ISI is involved in both electronics research and fabrication. Our MOSIS service has provided high-performance, low-cost integrated circuit fabrication to businesses, research institutes, and universities for 30 years. Our newest research area, Disruptive Electronics, seeks to leverage novel electronics technologies and architecture concepts to create new capabilities in space, high-performance computing and other challenging fields.
- MOSIS has delivered more than 50,000 chip designs to customers ranging from research groups to Fortune 500 corporations. One of the world's first e-commerce vendors – and the first multi-project wafer (MPW) service – MOSIS specializes in prototyping and small-volume production.
- The service aggregates designs from multiple customers to minimize costs, and offers design resources and access to a wide range of processes at leading foundries. Research includes VLSI, MEMS, photonics, and 3-D IC design, analysis and fabrication. MOSIS was also. Director: Wes Hansford, M.S.
- Disruptive Electronics focuses on CMOS extensions and post-CMOS concepts including novel devices, 3DIC technology and carbon, low-power and radiation-hardened electronics. ISI intends to develop infrastructure to support creation of novel, post-CMOS technologies. Director: Michael Fritze, Ph.D.
