ISI aims to create breakthrough technologies that enable groups of people, software and hardware to analyze situations jointly and take coordinated action. Our efforts include networks, shared-resource grids, security technologies, and tools and environments that directly support their users-- in situations that involve considerable scale, complexity, unreliability and uncertainty.
Research focuses on:
- Networking principles, architectures and protocols
- Grid and distributed workflow
- Information security strategies, technologies and infrastructure
- Large-scale simulation and information environments
- Advanced resource management and decision support
Among our current projects:
- Grid computing: Southern California Earthquake Center research coalition
- Testbeds: DETER experimental cyber-security testing network
- Large-scale simulations: Joint Experimentation on Scalable Parallel Processors for Joint Forces Command; Risk Analysis Workbench integrated analysis environment
- Sensor networking: ISI Laboratory for Embedded Networked Sensor Experimentation satellite, ecological, undersea seismic and other networks
